It means society modified their behavior, taught them, forced them to expect lower wages. The idea being that women, had they not been taught by society that they "deserve" lower wages, would expect equivalent wages. I'm guessing.

Q:

Please correct
The older women become, the easier they become obesity and disease.
Please correct
A:
Since periods are natural to every female body, you can't call them a disorder or specific problem, even. A hellish nightmare? Sure, haha. But more importantly, periods and menopause are two completely different things (menopause is actually the absence and eventual stop of periods when females get much older). So you should make it clear that you're addressing two different things, and not say 'specific' since it actually is not. It would be best to put them in separate sentences as well. Also, I don't know what your sentence is for, but you should most definitely cite research for the part about saying that obesity and disease are directly linked with periods and/or female aging... you don't have many grammatical errors, but honestly, the meaning of what you were trying to convey is very difficult to grasp.
