Do you usually include yourself when you say "My family is..."?
Do you think the word "family'' technically includes the person who is saying it?🤔
cf.🎓
I'm living with my family.(Doesn't include myself)
There are five people in my family.(In this case, it is obviously including myself)

your family doesn't include yourself, unless a person is considered related to themselves somehow. "We're family" would include the person speaking, as they are talking about themselves and their family.

"My family loves watching movies" doesn't include yourself. Actually, saying that usually implies that you DON'T love watching movies. If you wanted to say it including yourself, "Everyone in my family loves watching movies" is probably better. If you really want to be expressive, you could say "Loving movies is in the blood."

@Loafer @Irigitneb
Thank you for your answers!
Then, what about this?
1: Yeah, he's so nice. He's always taking good care of my family!
2: That nasty guy insulted/tried to pick a fight with my family. I'll give him a knuckle sandwich next time I see him.
Both don't include yourself? That depends on the person saying it?

@Nora_Kakashi Both dont include yourself. In both cases, if you wanted to include yourself, you would say "me and my family". Grammatical, you shooould say "my family and I", but no one does.
