Actually "chale" is a very common usual slang word in Mexico. BUT it is a very very informal word. In Mexico it is used as an expression of "irony" + "frustration" combined.

"Chale, no quiero ir"
"Oh man, I don't wanna go"

"Ay chale, que aburrido eres"
"Common, you are so bored"

"Yo creí que eras buena onda, chale"
"I thought you were cool man, really"

The word is like a idiom for Mexican people, and it doesn't have a definition. It's more like the feeling and context for using it.
