Vorstand is a group of people.
A "vorsitzende" is a single person who is part of the "Vorstand"

Then you have the individual members of the Vorstand who are also called Vorstand. Vorstand für Finanzen = cfo
While technically all members are equals there's often a Vorstandsvorsitzender who acts as a speaker and often has the final say.
While Vorstand is pretty much limited to big companies, Vorsitzende can be found everywhere. It describes a person who is in charge of a club or an organized group of people.
