Boy and Girl are typically used to refer to children.
"The boy was playing soccer with his classmates."
Guy and Gal are more generally used for adults.
"See that guy reading the newspaper."

@Ijizu I’ll also add that you’ll often hear people say “guys” to a group of people that has men, women, girls, and boys. Sometimes the group can be all girls or women and still could be called “guys”. For example, I could say to a group of friends who are all female and say, “Where are you guys going?” and it’d be considered okay to say. All of this should only be used in casual settings, and not in business settings.
