I know the people to whom it belongs. Grammatically correct but a bit old fashioned.
I know the people who it belongs to. More natural.
They have been growing apples for centuries. Something that started in the past and continues into the present.

@Ca1912 Sometimes a sentence can read better if the word order (clauses) are reversed. For example, "I know the people who own this beautiful garden; they've been growing apples for years.". Note the use of the semicolon to split two clauses that could stand on their own (independent), but have an implicit link to each other.
