“Overcome” is getting over an obstacle. You aren’t an obstacle yourself.
More natural:
I will overcome the emotions that had always been with me.
Or—
I will become a better person than I used to be.

@rukakur Yes! But I think you would word differently by stating “yourself” directly instead of “what” like “>what< I used to be”. For example, “I’ve always been depressed and failing all the time. I want to overcome myself!”
