There really isn't a difference to me, although I feel like the second option is used more usually in a joking tone, like:
(Question) "Brad don't you want to take your helmet on your bike ride?"
(Response) "Oh, I won't be needing that!" - Implying that he is too good to fall off.
For casual use, your first sentence is safer.
