Could someone please explain what does that mean?
“We cover up a pain that could encourage reflection on our routines and our rush. Now isn’t the time, and the time never comes. It’s not often that we let reality express itself through us, even though we suffer its effects on the inside when it shows up in a negative way.”

they are saying that all of us suffer, and cover our sadness inside, thinking we are too busy to deal with the things that cause us sadness. We think, "I will deal with that later," but we never stop being busy, and we never deal with our sadness.
because we do not deal with our sadness, it eats us inside. it harms us, it can even cause sickness, it can cause us to be angry with those we love.

@122514 you're welcome! in this case, "rush" means "hurry". I picture a busy city, everyone rushing to work, hurrying home, never stopping to think about their feelings deep down

@emilymatthias one more question, sorry if I’m annoying you
But “that could encourage reflection”
What does that mean specifically?

reflection is referring to self reflection. maybe at the end of your day you write in your journal about what you felt and what happened. maybe when in the shower you think about what you accomplished. There are many ways to reflect, but all involve personal growth - thinking about who you were, who you have grown to be, and who you want to be in the future.
it's like mapping out your career path, but instead of your career, it's your personality and your habits.

they say "pain that could encourage reflection".
the sadness we feel tells us that we need to think deeper about what we want in life, and about who we are, and what truly makes us happy. But instead, we cover up our feelings so we don't have to think about it, because it's difficult to do.

@emilymatthias you’re the best really I appreciate your help and your way of explaining makes it more understandable!. But I don’t get “pain that could encourage reflection on our routines and our rush life”. Does the writer mean that our pain reflects on our life in bad way? Or it means that pain could build up our life ?
- Inglés (US)
thank you! I think they are saying that sadness should alert you to a problem. Like if you had pain in your leg, you would go to the doctor, or you would think whether you're doing something that is hurting your leg.
But people with emotional pain often don't go to the doctor for it, and they don't slow down and really think about what causes this feeling. Instead, they push that feeling down inside and pretend it's not there. That's unhealthy.
