Before I even existed my parents had high expectations about having a child with a bright future, so when I was born they named me Basma, which means "a smile" in English. This name fits me well as I'm certain I bring a smile to their faces whenever they see me. During the 17 years that I lived with my parents I knew they wanted me to become a doctor or an engineer, like many parents. For me, my vision changed when I started taking classes at the American Center. I knew that my level wasn't good but I met really great teachers. Some of them were Americans, some of them were Moroccans. It didn't matter what their skin color was or their gender identity. What really mattered and what I'm truly thankful about is how they showed me my way to becoming a teacher of English. They helped bring the light to the next generation.
THE TURNING POINT:
When I was studying for my bachelor's degree I told my mom that I wanted to study English in the university in order to become a teacher of English. Her face turned into that of a man who was defeated in a war. All my family, including my cousins and my uncles became what society wanted: a doctor, an engineer, etc. But I was done with this fake dream. I was done studying about things I'm not interested in. While my mom was doing all that she could to convince me to choose another path, my dad was extremely happy and satisfied about my dream since he's a teacher also. He is a teacher of music.
Everything changed when I found out my English grade from the bachelor's exam. I was really happy and knew what I wanted. But I was also afraid since I knew that lots of students were going to take the exam along with me. But it didn't discourage me and I passed the exam and was on my way down the education track to English Studies. It was the begging of a new life for me. I knew that it would be a big challenge, but I wanted to prove to everybody that I could do it, I could become whatever I wanted to be.
FIRST DAY IN THE FACULTY:
While I was talking to my friends in Whatssap, I notice that everyone was afraid for me, saying that it's such a new experience, how would I deal with it? But for me I was so excited and happy! The first day in the university our teacher did not show up for class for some reason so my friend and I decided to study with the class in English Studies anyway. That was my first class in the university with Professor Meryem Lahrizi. I can't describe how happy I was, and the moment she started talking about 'present simple' I realized that this is what I really wanted. At the end of the session I told myself, "Wooooow, my watch must be too fast, lol."
WHAT I LEARNED FROM MY STORY
No one should let the world change him or her. Instead, we can change the world with our own visions. It was hard for me to change the way my mom thought. Now, whenever someone asks her about me, she says with a big smile, "She is going to be a teacher, like her father." I know and I'm ready: it's time to face my challenges.
[Again this site wouldn't allow me to indent at the beginning of the paragraphs. So make sure to indent the first sentences.]

@basma02angel When I reread what I had posted here I realized that I had made some of my own typos (mistakes).
Hopefully you can get a second person to proof read what I posted.

@basma02angel Sure I can look at it. But I have to make dinner for the kiddos right now. So it would have to be later.
In the meantime you should make a new post here about the second text and maybe somebody can take a look at it while I'm away.🙂
