¿Qué significa I went to the butcher's the other day to bet him 50 bucks that he couldn't reach the meat off the top shelf. He said, "No, the steaks are too high."

@oys6654 hahah this is a “pun” -> a joke based on how a word sounds

“steaks are too high” means, literally, ‘the raw pieces of cow meat are too high up for me to reach’

however, it *sounds* identical to the phrase “the stakes are too high,” which means “there’s too much that i could potentially lose if i were to gamble”
