@xxuk1xx I know that in Korean, there are certain words for hello that are more acceptable for the elderly, men, women or children. I don’t know if this is also true for Japanese, but in English, anyone can use ‘hello’ or ‘hi.’ There are no specific words that men/women/children should use. ‘Hi’ is just a slightly more friendly/familiar/informal version of hello. ‘Hello’ can be used pretty much everywhere. The word ‘greetings’ is still used, but usually as a noun. For example, greeting cards are sold in many stores. Saying ‘greetings’ as a greeting is outdated and will probably seem awkward in conversation. There are also other variations of ‘hello’ that people might use. For example, ‘hiya’ or ‘hey.’ Otherwise you have your other greetings like good morning/afternoon/evening/night.
