"Indeed" is commonly used in three different ways.
To emphasise a statement
- I was very sad indeed to hear of your father's death.
- It is indeed a remarkable achievement.
And to add information to a statement
- I don't mind at all. Indeed, I would be delighted to help.
- Today's youth live in a more affluent society than their grandparents, indeed even their parents.
To disagree with what someone has said
- A ghost indeed! I've never heard anything so silly.
