Can I say "sick leave" like "Yesterday I got really sick, so I took sick leave. Now I feel better, I can go to work today!" Can I say "sick leave" even if I took only one day off?

That works, but I think it would be better to say "I took a sick day" :)

"Leave" usually refers to a longer period of time, like if you have mono, cancer, or any other condition that makes you take two or more weeks off (this isn't a hard number, just a rule of thumb). Like cocoanna said, you usually use something like "sick day" or just, "I took the day off work," for when you have a cold.

Makes perfect sense but the other people are right, "sick day" is more commonly used and a "leave" is usually a longer period of time.
