I'm not sure how to explain it, but it's kind of like saying "It's crazy, but..." or "Even though it's disturbing..." the girl wants to end up in a sad and bitter divorce just like her mother. Most people would want to live their life happily, but this girl wants to live hers bitterly which is twisted (sick/distorted/unhealthy etc.)
