Hiding in the shadows means not playing the role that you should be, not taking action, doing nothing. You are waiting for things to take care of themselves naturally. On the other hand, an effective leader like the Delta Airlines guy she mentioned took the initiative to take action right away instead of waiting longer for more information. He didn’t hide in the shadows because he took action quickly as a leader should.
