They are pretty much synonyms, except that “scold” is used a little bit more often than “rebuke.” In my opinion, “rebuke” sounds stronger than “scold.” “Scold” is often used when talking about adults (usually parents or teachers) getting upset at children/students for doing something g wrong. For example, “The mom scolded her son for drawing on the walls.”
Although these words are used sometimes, neither of them are super common. You can also use “to get mad at.”
Example: “The mom got mad at her son for drawing on the walls.”
