They are pretty much the same, the difference is insignificant and is not considered by native speakers in general.
"As if" refers to a reason that is less likely/plausible, while "as though" refers to a reason that is more likely/plausible.
However, they are completely interchangable in any sentence. The difference may possibly be noteworthy in very formal sentences.
