“Ah right,” is often used when someone suddenly remembers something. For example, “Ah right, did you finish reading that book you mentioned?”
“Alright,” can be used to ask a question, for instance: “Are you alright?” Or can be used as an answer towards someone nagging you. Something like: “Alright I got it, stop nagging already!”
Basically consider the “ah,” before the “right,” to be a weird vowel sound added but the main focus is the “right.” However “alright,” is a word on its own.
