forever means something lasts until the end of time for example:
“my love will last forever”
if you were to replace “forever” with “always” it wouldn’t make grammatical sense, you could rearrange the sentence to make it make sense with “always”:
“my love will always last”
i hope this helps 😃👍

They're very similar in meaning, but mostly different in where they go in a sentence.
"I will love you forever" ➡ fine
"I will always love you" ➡ fine
"I will forever love you" ➡ slightly less fine but possible
"I will love you always" ➡ slightly less fine, I would prefer it with a comma (so "I will love you, always")
Additionally, "forever" usually refers to things that will never end and go on for an infinite amount of time, while "always" can refer to things that happen continuously or consistently but might end at some point. For example:
"I always get the bus at 7am" ✅
"I forever get the bus at 7am" ❌
"I get the bus at 7am forever" ❌
(it is slightly more complicated than this but this is generally true)
"forever" can also be used hyperbolically to refer to a really long time, and "always" can't. For example:
"It took them forever to decide what to eat" ✅
"It took them always to decide what to eat" ❌
