"We are quite similar" meaning you have some of the same way of speaking, or same interests.
"Those two books are quite similar"
Also note that "similar" is usually accompanied by "quite", not sure why, just how we say stuff.
Resemble is a formal word, might see it in a newspaper:
"The book resembles the one found in his house" or "The Library in Vancouver resembles the one in Calgary", but still super formal, I'd more likely say "is like" instead of "resembles".
