"I'm becoming my mother" usually means as a woman ages, she does things that her mother does/did. For example, A's mother absent-mindedly put her glasses on her head and then forgot about them. A is now doing the same thing, so she's becoming her mother.
But her mother also used to hide packs of cigarettes (probably because she wasn't supposed to be smoking, but couldn't/didn't want to quit). A doesn't do that, but that's the only difference between who A is now and her mother. It's usually an exaggeration, though.
Rephrased: "I am starting to do all the things my mother did, except she hid cigarettes and I don't."
