Bonjour, quel est la différence entre damned et damn.
Quand utiliser l'un ou l'autre ?
Quelle différence entre ces deux phrases ?
- What makes you so damn sure you're right?
- He's a cop, and a damned good one at that, if I say so myself.
Merci d'avance

As far as I know, damn and damned are mostly used synonymously, such as in your examples. They mean the same thing: Open the damn door! = Open the damned door!
But there are some exceptions. If you say someone/something is damned, it means they’re going to hell (or in hell) or they’re doomed. « I heard the wailing of the damned souls. » « She was damned the moment she broke the treaty. »
It’s often used to say that something definitely happened or definitely will happen « I’ll be damned if I don’t get out of here before I start screaming at him. » « I’ll be damned if it didn’t nearly break into pieces. »
You can also use it to express surprise: « Well I’ll be damned. You actually finished it. »
Then if you use the structure «(someone/something) be damned! » that means you reject it or don’t care about it. It’s like an exclamation or a curse. For example, « The gods be damned! » « Glory be damned, I’m not going! » « I’ll be at your throat with a knife, truce be damned. »
If anyone else has something to add or correct, feel free. ^^
