"Black hair" is the darkest shade of hair humanly possible! In contrast, "dark hair" covers a wide range of hair colors that have a "dark shade". However, the term "dark hair" by itself is usually used to refer to black/dark brown hair.

Both can be used when describing Asian hair. I would go with "dark hair" because not all Asians might have black hair

Dark hair can refer to any color, as long as it has a deep shade. It could be brown, deep red, auburn, etc.
Black hair is only black and has no other hue/color.
When talking about Asian hair, most people just say black, but the true color is usually dark brown.

So, "dark hair" can mean someone's hair that is lighter in color than "black hair" is, right? Which color does this lady have, "dark hair" or "black hair"?
- Inglés (US)
Yes that's right joealvo. "Dark hair" is just a more broad term. This lady appears to have black hair and dark hair.

Your question is like asking if a dog is a mammal or an animal. It is both! 😉 "Animal" is the broader term.
