‘Hey’ is a more friendly and casual approach than ‘Hello’. And ‘Hi’ can seem a bit upfront and timid.

Harmony, thank you for your reply. How about "Nice to meet /see you?" instead. I often use this. But I am wondering if this sounds a bit weird to native speakers. ??
