No difference, but for the second sentence, maybe you would be talking about things specific to the US (I visited the Statue of Liberty).

Yes, they mean the same, but the second sentence allows for the possibility you visited other countries during your vacation. The sentence order puts emphasis on "in the US", while the first sentence puts emphasis "on my vacation". When you say the first sentence, I imagine you only went to the US for your vacation. Like I said, the second sentence can/does mean the same thing, but it can allow for additional locations. For example, "I told my family what I did in the US during my vacation. However, I forgot to tell them about when I visited Canada." I know it's just a small nuance, but I thought the insight may help.
