why in past perfect have diferent verbs tenses in spanish: ex
i had already woken up when the clock rang : ya me había despertado cuando el reloj sonó
if i had known then what i know now..: si hubiera sabido antes lo que sé ahora..
en una es habīa y en otro hubiera.. es correcta

El 'if' es el que te cambia el había por el hubiera, porque lo usas de condicional
