Mainly keigo, honorifics. But positioning for every part of your body also works, like how you stand, where your palms are placed and so on.
The depth of bow don't always express level of respect and apology.

When being in other countries, I feel I am free, but once I meet other elderly Japanese...I stand straight, bow down and use the honorific, even if I was on the Orchard street in Singapore.Then, I notice I am not free.
