Why is the sentence, "Ahora él quiere ser actor y trabajar como zombi en películas." written like that and not like? It sounds like he wants to work like a zombie to me?

Oh, well. In Spanish we use the structure "trabajar como" + a profession.
- Trabajar como mesero.
- Trabajar como arquitecto.
But, I think you are right.
"Trabajar como zombi" and "Actuar como zombie" have the same meaning in that situation.
You know, the structure "trabajar como zombie" can have a different meaning in other circumstances. Like, to work hard until you do it automatically.
