¿Cuál es la diferencia entre What is the difference between ''Ich setze mich in den Sessel'' y and ''Ich setze mich auf den Sofa oder Stuhl''. Why we use the preposition ''in'' in the first example and ''auf'' in the second example? ?Puedes dar oraciones como ejemplo.

I guess because you sink into the soft "Sessel" a little bit and are surrounded by it to the left, right and in your back, whereas a chair usually has a hard surface that you stay on top of (auf) and just a backrest behind you.
And while you sink into a sofa, too, you're not surrounded by it the way you would be in an armchair.
