When a man without a title (ex. squire) gets married with a woman with noble birth, is there any practical merit for him? I think he cannot succeed the title which wife's father has. Is it to strengthen the connection between two families?

In Britain, marriages are for love 99% of the time. If she was a lady and he didn’t have a title, I believe their child would take the title but not him. But it’s definitely not as big of a deal as in Japan.
