¿Cuál es la diferencia entre lo pasamos genial y la pasamos genial y the "lo" and "la" are a bit confusing to me! Is there one that is correct? ?Puedes dar oraciones como ejemplo.

"lo" is for male words.
"la" is for female words.

In your sentence i think the best option is "la pasamos genial" because "la" makes reference to the situation, the party os the convivence and all these words are female.

Other examples;
-Él es mi hermano y lo quiero mucho.
-Ella es mi hermana y la quiero mucho.

They mean the same thing but the correct one would be: /la/ pasamos genial

because you're referring to the situation. In Spanish "la situation" it's female, so you have to say "la pasamos genial"

Both are correct, and their use is a bit region-dependant.
As some have explained above, lo is commonly a replacement for masculine words, whereas la is for feminine words. However, there's not enough context to know if "lo" or "la" in your sentence refers to a masculine or feminine word. For a feminine reference, la might be referring to: la situación, la circunstancia, la fiesta, la comida, la velada, etc. Lo could instead be referring to. el tiempo, el examen, el encuentro, el partido, etc.

That said, I must admit that here in Mexico, when the time or experience being referred to is implied, and not explicitly stated, it is far more common to employ "la".

They are both correct. However:

-> «*Lo* pasamos genial» is Spain Spanish.

-> «*La* pasamos genial» is Latin American Spanish.

It's a minor grammatical and regional difference, but it doesn't affect the meaning of the sentence. As you can probably tell by the previous comments, «lo» is not common on this side of the pond, since the previous commenters seem to think it is incorrect, but actually isn't.
