I think the most similar one may be "Hacerse la vista gorda". It means to pretend not to see something, in this case can be used to refer to a problem that nobody wanted to see, therefore, nobody wanted to talk about it.

Hi,
Just the above explication , but for me it's common:
"hacerse de la vista gorda".
1. In the party the cake had a horrible taste but "todos se hicieron de la vista gorda" and they ate it.
2.hey! you saw that this policeman received illegal money “y te hiciste de la vista gorda". Why didn't you say anything?!!
*One similar expression is:
"tapar el sol con un dedo"
(something like "Hide the sun with a finger", really I don't sure of the right word for "tapar"/"cubrir" in this context, please let me know if you know it)
This is used similar way but in this case the person makes a minimal effort to solve the problem and It acts as if it is totally resolved, however that's not true not even a little. Normally just for make reference to one person, not to one group.
Some examples:
3.you are totally drunk and you eat a mint candy before you get to friend's, this means you want "tapar el sol con un dedo", because you don't want to look bad but your solution is useless.
4. For the example 1 above(the cake with horrible taste), imagine that the party's host take a little bottle of honey and pour it over the cake but this not improves its taste, not a little . In this case I would say : He wanted "tapar el sol con un dedo", that cake was impossible to eat.
I hope this helps.

@Dann_01 Thanks for the explanation, I really appreciate it!
"Hide," "cover," and "block" all work well in the context of the expression "tapar el sol con un dedo." Your explanation was perfect!
