I don't think it's common for us to learn each other's languages, but we do understand what Swedish or Norwegian people say

Most of us have an idea of what they're saying!
I just don't Think we really take time to actually learn The language.
I remember i read a Norwegian book in 1st grade, and that's it

the languages are so similar that they are not considered foreign languages and thus not taught as subjects in school. it's just expected that we understand. There are manditory reading in both languages in high school as part of danish lessons. I don't think I've heard of anyone getting lessons in Swedish or Norwegian. I don't see why that would be necessary.

@sprakelskhugi not entire books, but yes, norwegian and swedish texts are part of the curriculum.
