I'm learning to write academic English essay. Regarding the different cultures we own, I'd like to know whether I should hold a direct opinion of issues or I'm supposed to agree with both of different opinions. For understanding clearly, I give you an example. The topic required to discuss with is 'what's your opinion to the trend that teachers educate students to judge right and wrong matters'. When I'm considering this topic, should I write the pros and cons of the trend or just pros?

I think it depends on your professor, but if this essay has a topic, usually you would only support one side. So I would just talk about the pros in this case.
