A guarantee is a reassurance that what is being said/advertised will be fulfilled. In advertisements it is often also used for replacement of a product of the customer isn't satisfied.
A warranty is similar, but it is usually just a written statement that promises to replace or repair something bought if necessary within a period of time.

You can 'guarantee' the safety of someone or a responsibility, and you can take a 'warranty' out on something so that it is protected (think of it as insurance)
