@bokeumlee It’s wrong.
It’s sort of a condensed version of “No, I just have my backpack. That’s all.”
I’m not going to try to defend Louis Sachar here—maybe he thinks people talk that way? Or his characters should? If I read that, I would think it is weird also.

To me it isn't. I would say, "No, all I have is my backpack."

@bokeumlee I don't understand the whole situation but it a little unnatural.
More like "No, All i have is my backpack"

@Lapis_Lazili@RespectK It is what a guy said in a novel. I don't think he got a good education.

@bokeumlee The moral is: it’s great to read books or see movies but not everything you read or hear is correct or even standard English. Sometimes, especially in dialogue, people say “wrong” things. So don’t assume that all that stuff is right. ☺️ (It’s really hard for you to know what’s right and what isn’t, though. 😭)

@bokeumlee You got it! It’s exactly the same. People don’t speak Korean perfectly either all the time, either in fiction or in real life. So don’t let it throw you (disorient you) too much. ☺️
