¿Cuál es la diferencia entre awkward y embarrassed y I need a word to express the kind of feeling in situations like this: you have feelings for someone and have to tell him or her directly while you're kind of shy. ?Puedes dar oraciones como ejemplo.

"Awkward" is when you're uncomfortable

"Embarrassed" is like humiliated

In your situation, "awkward" might be better. If I'm shy and don't know what to say, the conversation may be very awkward. If the guy tells me that he doesn't like me back, then I'm embarrassed.

They are sort of similar, but I think of it like this:

Awkward is when you and the other person don't know what to say.

Embarrassed is when you want to hide your face from the rest of the world because of what you just said or did.

So, for example, Jane is a shy person and she has to tell her crush, Bob, about her feelings. It is only awkward if Jane says something that Bob doesn't know how to respond to. Maybe Jane said something that was too crass and Bob just stood there speechless.

Once Jane realized what she had done, maybe she will feel embarrassed for making the situation awkward. Also, like sparklyglitz said, if Bob doesn't like her back then maybe Jane will feel embarrassed.

So, as you can see, you can't really feel awkward or embarrassed until something has happened.
