To betray one's presence is to show anyone around where you are, assuming they didn't already know.
For example:
"He had been perfectly silent and still, watching the two of them from the doorway. The only thing that betrayed his presence was the large grumble from his stomach."
^ This means the man was hiding, or otherwise unnoticed. But the noise from his stomach made the two people he was watching notice he was there.
