¿Cuál es la diferencia entre "I went to the United States." y "I have been to the United States." ?Puedes dar oraciones como ejemplo.

"I have been to the United States" -> you're using Present Perfect - it means you have visited the USA at some point in your life (you don't give the exact date)
"I went to the US last year/last week/two years ago" -> you use Past Simple when you say when exactly the thing happened

It is only the time you used. Both mean the same thing.
Both use past tenses. One is past simple the other is present perfect.

@jojo_420 These are simply different tenses. The first one means you were there. The second one is just used if you want to say you have been/travelled there before (maybe you are there right now and just say this to someone you meet there).

@aidmtr @borowkax @misuru it means that both of my sentences are grammatically correct am I right? It's just that past simple is when I give the specific time or date and the other one I don't?
