email, text message, stuff like that, go through.
let's say you have a friend who wants to do something dangerous. everyone keeps telling them not to do it. you have tried telling them it's a bad idea, you tell them how dangerous it is and it's not worth the risk.
you find out they ended up doing the dangerous thing anyways, and they're in the hospital with a broken leg.
you could say, I guess my message didn't get through to her.
so yes, I did add "to her", but it's largely the same sentence.
sorry for the confusion, I'm super tired.

They're both natural, which one you would use depends on what you're talking about.

well the situations would be completely different.. like
what do I have to do to get through to you!
we have to help him get through his divorce, he always looks so miserable lately
the hackers are trying to get through the firewall

@unpredictablecrow that's what I figured. with messaging, you really wouldn't use get.
