what's the difference between saying "stai" and "te ne stai" ?

@Lam991 "Te ne stai" renforce un peu la signification du verbe :) "Stai da solo" appartient au registre standard, alors que "Te ne stai da solo" a une valeur émotionnelle plus forte

So stai is generally the present tense of stare (you stay), but if you want to emphasize the fact that someone stays (sta) alone or far from others you can say for ex. "Come mai te ne stai lí tutto solo?" ("Why are you there all by your own?"
