we use обеда, because preposition после requires родительный падеж. another examples:
мы будем пить водку после вина.
после сна дети пойдут в бассейн.
после работы мы все идем в бар.
обед, сон is masculine(i hope this is a right translation) so in родительный падеж it becomes обеда, сна. (а ending)
вино is neuter so it becomes вина
работа is feminine and takes ы as ending .
