@jayth7: Wenn means something like if: If this happens.. Wenn das passiert. And Wann means something like when: When did this happen? Wann ist das passiert? or When are we going to meet? Wann werden wir uns treffen?
- Alemán
^ You can use "Wenn" also in sentences like "I'll text you when I'm free" = "Ich schreibe dir wenn ich Zeit habe" so you're going to text someone when you have time; you can also say "Ich schreibe dir wann ich Zeit habe" but that means you're going to text someone when you're going to be free so you can meet up then or something...
O gosh I don't even know how to explain properly but "wann" is used when asking for a specific time + if you don't know you'll use it in the answer as well like "Ich weiß nicht wann ich Zeit habe" & "wenn" is used to explain when something's going to happen or is used together with a condition like "ich schreibe dir wenn ich meine Arbeit erledigt habe" = "I'll text you when I finished my work"

in English , both translate to "when"
"wann" is a questioning word, like you have in english. example: When are we leaving ? When did that happen ? Wann fahren wir los ? Wann ist dein Termin?
"wenn" is a conjunction, a word that connects two sentences. example : Ich werde es dir geben, wenn ich es finde. it means: I will give it to you, when i find it.
although i'm not really sure how to explain any better, if you can replace the "when" in the english sentence with "at what time", it should be "wenn". (since it's a questioning word remember?)
Wann musst du gehen ? Zur welchen Zeit musst du gehen? When do you have to go? At what time do you have to go ?
this won't work when you have the conjunction. ex: Ich werde es machen, wenn ich Lust habe. = I will do it, when I feel like it.
try replacing "when" with "at what time"
it's kind of odd.
I believe it can be replaced with " the time". -> I will do it, the time i feel like it.
[I just thought of this, and it sounds complicated, but well i tried and i hope it can count as some kinda rule , hope i helped somehow]
