I'm confused about the word χρόνος for year

The plural is τα χρόνια which I have been taught τα relates to plural neuter nouns.

but then I see η χρονιά which is plural feminine noun

however there is no το χρόνο (singular neuter noun) or οι χρονιές ( plural feminine noun)

please can someone help explain the gender singular and plural words for Year/Years and when to use which and why it is that way.

thank you...
