Pregunta de Hebreo
¿Cómo dices esto en Hebreo? to make
¿Cómo dices esto en Hebreo? to make
I think many people translate it as la'asot, but I mean to make as in "to make a cake". Would that still be la'asot?

Laasot is indeed the word for "make". However, many things you "make" have different verbs, even in English one would say "bake a cake" rather than "make", and Hebrew is the same.
La'afot (the verb for "bake") is only relevant for baking, and there are many verbs like this that one uses only in specific situations. Thankfully it's easy to remember or guess them, since they share the same root as the noun. לאפות comes from מאפה, ("ma'a feh") which is a word for anything baked.
But again, it's all similar to English. You wouldn't "make" a sculpture, you would sculpt one. And so in hebrew, you don't לעשות פסל, but rather לפסל פסל.
once you learn to turn the noun into a verb, it's very easy.
(and i just wanna say, if you use "la'asot" instead of the specific verb, everyone will understand you and you won't even sound funny or anything. it's just not correct, and would be bad if you wrote something like that in a language test for instance)

״לעשות״ definitely works. But I'd say most people(including myself) would use ״להכין״.
to make a cake: ״להכין עוגה״
I'm making a cake: ״אני מכין עוגה״
They are making a cake: ״הם מכינים עוגה״
I've made a cake: ״הכנתי עוגה״

Yes, "להכין" is comparable to "to prepare" in English, the way you can say "prepare a meal" instead of "cook a meal." All of these are very useful, but if you're not sure, it will always be safe and understandable to say "laafot".
