Being rude is the doing of harsh actions or having harsh speech

rude is more intentionally upsetting/offending someone. for example, the student continually harassed the teacher for the fun of it.
- that is rude.
be in impolite however is less harsher than being rude. impolite can be anything from not saying please/thank you to not acting in a proper way.
for example of the context:
Being polite can be opening doors for people behind you.
Saying please and thank you.
Listening when someone is talking.
where as being impolite:
Talking back to someone who is trying to help you.
Talking over someone in a business/classroom/formal event. etc.
Unintentionally offending someone or people around you. e.g. talking about someone.

Being impolite is basically not showing/having good manners. Showing no regard for others.
"Stop being so impolite, we have guests."
"It was impolite of you to joke about them like that."
Being rude can be:
1. Being impolite. Often, being impolite on purpose.
"Stop being rude, we have guests."
"Quiet down! You are being rude."
"Is it rude to ask a woman her age?"
2. Obscene. (Sexually)
"Does this movie have rude scenes?"
"I hate rude jokes."
The word "rude" is more commonly used.
