Captivated is when you have already got the attention of something.
Infatuated is the first moment you are started to be interested.
Both can be used in the same context though! :)

@jickoon captivated means you're very interested in something, but infatuation usually implies you have a fondness/love for something/someone. Examples:
The performers were excellent! I was captivated by their dancing.
TaeHyung is so beautiful and funny... I am infatuated with him.

To be "mesmerized":
I was completely mesmerized by the performance!
TaeHyung is such a good performer... He is mesmerizing (OR) He mesmerizes me.
It works both ways 😁 to be mesmerized is like a mixture between captivated and infatuated.

@jickoon “to be mesmerized” is more similar to “to be captivated” since here you have already gotten the attention, as well.
This still has the same meaning and can be used in the same context though! :)
