It is meant to be humorous. He has bad reception for his phone, so in order to get better cell phone reception, he uses an antenna like object to get a cell phone signal. Understand?

@n_ag0: An "antenna" increases the quality/reception. So when you can't hear someone clearly on the phone, you add an antenna to improve the call. Obviously this doesn't work, it's a joke ☺ Reception = call quality
hack = an easy fix to something.
