Pregunta de Inglés (US)
Sophie is met us at the restaurant.
Is the previous sentences correct? I'm not sure to understand how "is met" works in this sentence.
Thanks in advance!

I almost never hear the phrase "is met".
The way it is used above doesn't work, sadly.
The first thing I think of when I hear the phrase "is met" isn't meeting people, but being met with an emotion.
"She is met with confusion at the thought."
But this is very formal and rarely used.
Additionally, I I think the phrase is way more common in the past tense: "was met".
"She was met with confusion."
"She was met by the interviewer at the coffee shop."
"She was met with blank stares at her suggestion."
However, it still isn't really common, to my knowledge.

Thank you very much! It was very strange to me when I saw it, but my English teacher said it was correct... Thanks again! \(^o^)/

Oh, actually, that example can work, if you add "by" between "met" and "us". But personally, I wouldn't use it.
